 Reporting in SRM

SRM has three ways to report on engagement activity: per-entity spreadsheet exports, per-record activity exports, and dashboard widgets. This article covers what each one gives you.

Exporting list data
-------------------

The Stakeholders, Organisations, Initiatives, Interactions, and Issues lists each support a spreadsheet export of the current view:

1. Open the list you want to export: **Stakeholders**, **Organisations**, **Initiatives**, **Interactions**, or **Issues**.
2. Use the **Search** and **Filter** controls to narrow the list to what you want in the report.
3. Click the **Additional options** menu at the top of the list.
4. Choose **Export**.

Exports respect whatever filters and search you have applied. If you want everything, clear the filters first.

Each export's columns reflect the most useful fields for that entity type. The issue export also includes the titles of the source interactions each issue arose from, and the exports for stakeholders, organisations and initiatives include a column for every [custom field](/articles/custom-fields-for-srm-records) your engagement site has defined.

Because the export follows the current view, the filters and the column selector are part of the reporting toolkit. See [Filtering, columns and bulk updates in SRM](/articles/filtering-columns-and-bulk-updates-in-srm).

Exporting an activity timeline
------------------------------

For a complete dated record of everything that's happened against a single stakeholder, organisation, initiative, or issue:

1. Open the record's **View** tab.
2. Click **Export activity** at the top of the timeline.

The activity export contains one row per timeline event, with columns for *ID, Activity Type, Description, Stakeholder, Organisation, Initiative, Interaction, Created By*, and *Date*. It is the single-record audit log, and it suits handover documents, programme reviews and evidence trails.

Dashboard widgets
-----------------

SRM ships with 15 widgets you can add to the home dashboard:

### Count widgets

- **Stakeholder Count**, **Organisation Count**, **Initiative Count**, **Interaction Count** and **Issue Count**: total counts

**Stakeholder Count** has settings of its own. It can filter by sentiment scores and influence levels, and it chooses which date the count follows: **Stakeholder created**, **Stakeholder activity**, **Stakeholder interaction** or **Latest issue activity**. Set to *Stakeholder activity*, the dashboard's date range turns it into a count of records with no recent activity.

### Needs-attention widgets

- **Stakeholders Needing Attention**: high-influence stakeholders with negative or critical sentiment
- **Issues Needing Attention**: open and monitored issues that need action

### Distribution charts

- **Stakeholder relationship health**: the register bucketed by sentiment into **Critical**, **At risk**, **Watch**, **Healthy** and **Strong**, optionally narrowed to chosen influence levels.
- **Stakeholder mapping**: the distribution across influence and interest levels. Choose which of the two to plot and whether to render it as a **Bar** chart, a **Line** chart or a **Table**.

### List and table widgets

- **Stakeholder Table**, **Organisation Table** and **Issue Table**: sortable tables of records
- **Recent Initiatives** and **Recent Interactions**: the latest records of each type
- **Recent Activity**: a live feed of everything happening across SRM

Widgets are added and arranged from the home dashboard via the **Add new widget** button. The wider dashboard mechanics are covered in [Reporting dashboards](/articles/9184210119695-Reporting-dashboards), [Dashboard settings](/articles/9184214244367-Dashboard-settings), and [Edit dashboard widgets](/articles/9184401884943-Edit-dashboard-widgets).

### The pre-built SRM dashboard

The home dashboard comes pre-configured with a set of these widgets under custom titles: **Stakeholders** and **Active Issues** (counts), **Stakeholders Needing Attention** and **Issues Needing Attention** (tables), the **Stakeholder relationship health** and **Stakeholder mapping** charts, and **My commitments**, **My follow-ups** and **My Tasks**, holding your open Commitment tasks, Follow-up tasks and full task list. All 15 widget types remain available if you want to add more or rearrange the layout.

Putting a report together
-------------------------

For a typical engagement report:

1. Use **filters** on the relevant list (for example interactions in a specific initiative, or open issues by priority) to scope the data.
2. Export the filtered list.
3. Pull the activity timeline of the initiative or stakeholder as a narrative complement to the structured export data.
4. Use dashboard screenshots for headline figures.
