When content and participation tools are created or updated, they either sit in one of the following workflow statuses: Content and participation tools can sit in either one of the following statuses: Draft, Send for approval, Approved, Rejected, Publish, Unpublish.

How to update a workflow status
-------------------------------

Depending on their permissions, users will be able to update workflow statuses. Click [here](/articles/9176861358095-User-roles) for more info on permissions.

To update a workflow status of generic site pages
-------------------------------------------------

1. Click **Content** in the left-hand menu bar.
2. Click **Pages** to see a list of all existing basic site pages.
3. Search or scroll the list to find the page that you want to edit.
4. On the right hand side of the listing, click on the ellipsis to view the extended menu. Select **Edit.**
5. When you've finished your changes, click **Publish**.
6. In the upper right-hand corner, click on the arrow next to the current status button.
7. This will display the workflow status options. Click the desired workflow status.
8. A pop-up message will appear where you can leave a Revision message. Click **Confirm** to change the workflow status.
9. Your workflow status is now updated.

To update a workflow status of project content
----------------------------------------------

1. Log in to your Civio Engage website.
2. Click **Projects** in the left-hand menu bar. This will show you all projects you currently have access to.
3. Click on a project to open it.
4. Click on the **Edit** tab.
5. In the upper right-hand corner, click on the arrow next to the current status button.
6. This will display the workflow status options. Click the desired workflow status.
7. A pop-up message will appear where you can leave a Revision message. Click **Confirm** to change the workflow status.
8. Your workflow status is now updated.

To update a workflow status of a participation tool
---------------------------------------------------

1. In the left-hand menu bar, click **Projects**.
2. Click on a project to open it.
3. In the left-hand menu, under **Participation**, click the relevant participation tool type. This displays all the tools within this tool type.
4. Select the tool you would like to update the status of by clicking the **ellipsis** at the end of the row to see an extended menu. Click **Edit**.
5. In the upper right-hand corner, click on the arrow next to the current status button.
6. This will display the workflow status options. Click the desired workflow status.
7. A pop-up message will appear where you can leave a Revision message. Click **Confirm** to change the workflow status.
8. Your workflow status is now updated.
