Change your password

To update your password in Civio Engage:

2. In the top right of the screen, click on your **username**, then select **Manage** **profile.**
3. Enter your current password, and your new password.
4. Confirm your new password.
5. Click **Save**.

As you type a new password, a strength indicator appears beneath the field, ranging from **Too weak** to **Strong**. Hover the information icon next to it to see which requirements your password still needs to meet.

Resetting your password

Two-factor authentication
-------------------------

You can choose to enable or disable Two-factor authentication (2FA). When 2FA is enabled, you will be prompted for a token to authenticate your identity. This secure, random token is generated by the Google Authenticator app on your phone. Click [here](/articles/9176717158031-Login-to-your-site) to find out more about 2FA.

*If you are not sure if you need to enable 2FA, please contact your Civio Engage administrator.*

Set your site's password rules
------------------------------

If you are an administrator, you can set the password rules that suit your organisation's security policy. Go to **Settings**, then **People**, then **Password settings**. From here you can configure:

- **Minimum password length**: require passwords of at least 8, 10 or 12 characters.
- **Required character types**: choose which a password must include, from **Mixed Case** (both upper and lower case), **Letters**, **Numbers** and **Symbols**.
- **Password history**: stop people reusing their recent passwords.
- **Account lockout**: lock an account for a period after repeated failed sign-in attempts.

These rules apply whenever someone sets or changes a password, including when they register or reset a forgotten password.

The password settings page is available to administrators. If you cannot see it, contact your Civio Engage administrator.
